Thoughts To Ponder

The carpenter's gimlet makes but a small hole, but it enables him to drive a great nail. May we not here see a representation of those “minor” departures from the truth that prepare minds for grievous errors, and of those thoughts of sin that open a way for the worst of crimes!

Truth and Love

by Gene Frost

Truth compromised with error is no longer truth. For the truth to continue, one must not give place by subjection to error, not even for a moment. The moment one gives place to false teaching, then the truth is hindered. (Cf. Gal. 2:4-5)

Love for God and love for one's fellowman is expressed in this determined advocacy of truth. (1 John 5:3) The emotional spirit that would minimize truth in favor of pleasing another is love" falsely called.

Let us not deceive ourselves in thinking that we please God by seeking a spirit of love" that compromises the truth of God. Rather, let us be in subjection to the truth of the gospel and thereby demonstrate sincere love. (2 Cor. 9:13, John 14:15)

Love and truth are not incompatible - both are of God !

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (3 John 2-4).
